Liberty Locksmiths FAQs

Locksmith FAQs

1. What areas does Liberty Locksmiths cover?

I am a Glasgow locksmith and work throughout Glasgow, Motherwell, Hamilton, East Kilbride, Coatbridge, Uddingston, Baillieston, Bellshill, Rutherglen, Cumbernauld, Wishaw, Airdrie, Blantyre, Cambuslang, Bothwell, Stepps, Bishopbriggs and Newton Mearns

2. How long will it take for you to get to my property?

If you have lost your keys, your lock is stuck or broken, you’ve been burgled and need new locks, I can usually be with you within 30 minutes. My van is fully stocked with spare parts, which means I can usually fix the problem there and then, including new keys. However, in the unusual event that I don’t have the part you need, I will order it straight away and aim to return within 24 hours to fit it. Your property will always be fully secured before I leave.

3. If I am locked out does this mean that I need a new lock?

No, a new lock is not always necessary. It will depend on the type of lock that is currently fitted and the reason you are locked out. If the lock is faulty, a new lock is usually required. However, if you have left your keys inside and just need access to your property I can often use non-destructive emergency entry techniques to open the lock. This means that you will not need a new lock which will keep costs down.

4. If I am locked out, how long will it take to get my door open?

This will depend very much on the type of lock that is on your door. Some locks can be opened in a matter of minutes whereas more complicated locks can take longer.

5. How much is your ‘call-out’ charge?

I do not charge for ‘call-out’ and I also don’t charge extra for evening or weekend work. Unlike some locksmith companies, I only charge for parts and labour (the time it takes to carry out the job). If you call me, you can explain the problem you are having. From this, I can usually determine the issue and give you a pretty accurate quote for the full job. You will not have to wait until I arrive to get a price. Also, I am not VAT registered so the price that I quote is the price that you pay, with no hidden extras.

6. How much does a new lock cost?

We carry a wide range of different locks in our van. Our lock replacement service starts at £50. Get in touch with us to find out more.

7. Will you be able to replace my lock straight away?

My van is always fully stocked with spare parts so I can replace most types of lock when I arrive at your property. In the rare cases that I don’t have the specific lock needed, I will order a new one immediately and return within 24 hours to fit it. I will always fully secure your property while you are waiting on the new lock to arrive.

8. Do you fix UPVC doors?

Yes, I specialise in multi-point gearbox replacement for UPVC and composite doors. I carry the majority of these gearboxes in stock so I can do a first-time fix, 99% of the time. I also can supply and fit a range of locks and handles for UPVC doors and windows.

9. What brands of locks do you fit?

I only fit quality brands of lock such as Yale, ERA and Union. Some locksmiths will fit cheap, unbranded locks they have sourced from places like eBay but this is a waste of time. Unbranded locks may look very similar to branded ones but you will not know if they have gone through the same rigorous testing that is required for branded locks.

10. Will my new lock come with a guarantee?

Yes, all my new parts come with a 12-month guarantee.
